The Relationship Between Food Insecurity and Gestational Diabetes – A Scoping Review

In my last semester at Western I took a class called Academic Health Communication taught by the incredibly intelligent Dr. Shauna Burke. The final assignment was to choose a topic that had fewer that 25 published papers, source these papers in a series of academic databases, reconcile the information they contained, and write a ‘scoping review’ to summarize the findings. I knew that I was headed to the Doula Studies program when I was taking this class and so I wanted to choose a topic that that would benefit me in the long run. I choose to study the relationship between food insecurity and gestational diabetes. It was the longest and most time consuming paper I wrote in my post secondary career, but I am very happy with how it came together. The button below will open up a PDF of the paper!
